The Sioux County Historical Society was founded in 1969 by many people from the Orange City area. The museum was originally located on the lot directly north of the Iowa State bank.
In August of 1991 the Historical Society purchased the former Orange Motor property at 120 3rd Street S.W. and moved the museum displays and the old country school house to the new location directly south of the courthouse. The society has since acquired the building on the northwest corner of this lot which housed the long time barber shop and now houses the rug loom and barbershop exhibits.
The Sioux County Historical Society endeavors to preserve and present the history of Sioux County and the unique Dutch history of Orange City.
